A growing map of plants, creatures, materials, objects and ideas that recur across Cottagegoth.
The Index is the connective tissue of the site: a way to move sideways rather than always following categories.
Foxglove — garden plant, poison, medicine, folklore, bell-shaped flowers.
Corvids — rooks, ravens, crows, jackdaws, magpies and jays.
Moths — night-flying insects, pattern, camouflage and a great deal more diversity than the familiar household pests suggest.
Blackthorn — hedge, blossom, sloes, thorns and a dense accumulation of folklore.
Iron — useful, heavy, ordinary, old; a material that often does more for a room than an explicitly gothic ornament.
Moss — slow colonisation, damp stone, woodland and the visual evidence of time.
Mushrooms — fungi rather than decoration: fruiting bodies, decomposition, food, poison and folklore.
