Clothes and objects with a darker rural or romantic character, without turning getting dressed into costume.
Cottagegoth style works best when the pieces can survive outside the aesthetic. Wool, linen, lace, sturdy boots, dark florals, long skirts, knitwear, old jewellery and weathered leather can all fit without needing bats printed on them.
The useful test is the same as it is for interiors: if the theme label vanished, would the thing still be good?
